Do I need an OBD adapter or any hardware?

No. VroomScan works only with your phone's microphone. Pick the sound source, follow the recording tip and tap record.

Which noises can it check?

8 sound sources, each analysed separately: engine, transmission, turbo, exhaust, brakes, suspension, belts and pulleys, A/C and fans. If you are not sure where a noise comes from, start with the engine and record other sources afterwards.

Is it a diagnosis?

No. It is a pre-check based on sound alone. VroomScan compares your recording with recordings from similar cars and shows likely causes with a match score. A mechanic always has the final word.

How does it decide if I can keep driving?

Each likely fault has a known risk profile. VroomScan combines that with the match score and shows one of three verdicts: safe to drive, drive with care, or stop driving. If your car feels unsafe, stop regardless of the result.

Does it get more accurate?

Yes. The model learns from recordings of cars like yours, so estimates keep improving as more drivers scan. You can switch off "Help improve estimates" in Settings at any time.

What is free and what is Pro?

Free gives you 1 scan a month with a summary result and the keep-driving verdict, 10-second recordings and ads. Pro Monthly ($4.99) gives 15 full estimates per billing month. Pro Yearly ($34.99, 3-day free trial) is unlimited under fair use. Both Pro plans record for 60 seconds, remove ads and add mechanic PDFs. A Single Report is $2.99 once.

Why is Pro recording 60 seconds?

Many noises only show up for a moment: a clunk over a bump, a whine at one speed. A longer recording catches them and gives the model more to compare.

Do I need an account?

No. You can scan as a guest and your data stays on your phone. Create a free account with your email and a one-time code to keep your history and use your plan on other devices.

Where is my data stored?

All VroomScan data is stored on Amazon Web Services servers in Frankfurt, Germany, inside the European Union. Details are in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing notice.

How do I cancel or restore a purchase?

Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. On a new device, tap Restore Payment on the plan screen while signed in to the same store account.
